More Than Your Body

You're worth more than your body.

Do you not know?

You're worth more than your body

For you have a soul.

You're worth more than your body

See yourself through God's eyes

You're worth more than your body

For you have family ties

Ties that come from heaven above

Ties that bind and cover with love

Ties that embrace each perceived flaw

Ties that choke out your unrealistic laws

Laws that tell you run more and eat less

Laws that tell you you're nothing but a mess

Laws that bring only exhaustion and tears

Laws that keep you in bondage with fear

Fear that you will never be enough

Fear that tells you don't cry and be tough

Fear that screams only hate in your face

Fear that keeps you from receiving His grace

Grace that covers and can heal all your pain

Grace that will give your heart a new name

Grace that embraces and won't shy away

Grace that will hold you, despite what you say

You say you're unworthy, God says you are mine

You say that you're ugly, God says you're divine

You look in the mirror and hate what you see

God looks in that mirror and smiles with glee

He smiles for He knows all the good you will do

He smiles for He sees the hard you'll come through

He smiles for He sees all the beauty you are

The beauty that radiates from within your heart

Beauty regardless of age, gender, or size

Beauty worth more than your stomach or thighs

Beauty that truly is more than skin deep

It's beauty from God, and that's beauty you keep

“But the Lord said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.’” 1 Samuel 16:7

“Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.” 1 Peter 3:3-4

“Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed.” Psalm 34:5

“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:14
