Lessons-for-my-teenage-self

We all have lessons we’d like to take back to share with our teenage selves. From advice about friendships and relationships to body image issues to questioning your faith, the topics are endless.

In today’s episode, Amy Connell joins Chrissy to discuss the top 5 lessons she’d share with her teenage self. As a mother of two, certified personal trainer, nutrition coach, and author, Amy has studied this topic and lived, learned, and gained experience and expertise. Amy shares some staggering statistics about young women, busts the stories we’ve been telling ourselves for years, and gives advice on what to say when teens begin questioning God.

This conversation touches on the nostalgia of a simpler time, the pros and cons of social media, as well as tips for things like loneliness and negative self-talk. You do not want to miss this episode!

In this episode, we cover:

  • What Amy would tell her teenage self
  • If teens these days really do have it harder
  • How social media can actually be a positive tool
  • What comparison looked like “back in the day” vs now
  • Staggering statistics about young women and body image
  • How the enemy succeeds at attacking young women
  • Amy busts several stories we tell ourselves as women
  • Why it’s important to let some things be between you and God
  • What you actually remember from your teenage years
  • The one thing Amy would encourage all teens to do now
  • Lessons about body image, friendship, and happiness across generations
  • What to do when negative self-talk happens
  • What happens with high schoolers and their faith

As you heard in the episode, good, deep, meaningful friendships are so important for us—both as teens and adults. Even if “all you have” are 1 or 2 close friends, that’s enough! Take time to nurture yourself and those friendships.
