There is freedom on the other side of s3xual struggles, p*rn struggles, and the shame that accompanies it. This isn’t just a topic for men—women struggle, too. Too many women are living with some kind of s3xual guilt and shame and guilt. As uncomfortable as it is, we’re talking about it today.
Dr. Joy Skarka joins me for this 2-part conversation beginning with her story. Then, we move into topics like advice for how parents can talk about these subjects in age-appropriate ways, Dr. Joy shares some eye-opening statistics, and I share my personal story. Friends, I know this is a difficult topic that many would like to avoid and might initially feel odd in a Christian setting (because we simply aren’t used to that), but I pray you will listen, if only to see what Jesus has for you in this conversation.
Please note that this episode contains topics such as s3xual assault, which may be sensitive for some listeners.
In this episode, we cover:
- Why Dr. Joy feels it’s so important for her to share her story and what that story is
- How we as parents can react in a helpful way to our child’s curiosity
- How Dr. Joy began to open up about her story and heal with God
- Statistics about adult website viewers, pornography exposure, etc.
- A very vulnerable share from Chrissy
- How salvation ties into the struggle and the shame
- How binge eating and s3xual addictions are related
- The first step you can take if you’re ready to heal from any s3xual shame or struggle
As you have heard, I’ve been impacted by these topics, likely just as many of you have been. And God is just waiting to open His arms and welcome you into His loving embrace. If there’s absolutely anything you feel called to share, we’d love to hear from you—send an email to admin@findingbalance.com
