“My daughter is an average size, which means she sometimes doesn’t fit in the trendier clothes you would find at stores like Hollister or Abercrombie and Fitch. Because of this, every time I take her shopping I try to avoid stores where the clothes are cut smaller, or I try to “size up” – giving her sizes that are larger than she is to try on first, so she won’t feel so discouraged. I also try to limit her television, magazines, etc. so she’s not so inundated with unrealistic images of beauty. But nothing seems to be helping. What else can I do to help her accept her body?”
